The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Essex County area where the heat index requires a declaration for a Code Red Alert. Therefore, effective August 6, 2026, the County of Essex is calling for a Code Red Declaration for the following:
- Thursday, August 6, 2026, beginning @ 11am, thru 8pm Friday, August 7, 2026
Below is a list of participating Code Red Cooling Centers for our most vulnerable population who will need sheltering from the extreme heat.
