Information and Assistance Unit is the central source for information and referral for older adults and disabled individuals in Essex County. The ADRC is the doorway to information and assistance to caregivers and consumers on long term care. By calling Essex County ADRC, 973-395-8365, 8368, 8391, 8838 or 1-877-222-3737, older adults and disabled individuals, their families, and other concerned individuals can obtain information about and referral or linkage to community services for older adults and disabled residents. Individuals with hearing impairments may call the New Jersey Relay Service (711V/TTY) to access information. The ADRC unit arranges for home visits by outreach staff to help older adults assess their needs and access services. Those individuals who are frail and vulnerable, who have no effective support system of family or friends and who will need long-term and extensive assistance are referred to the ADRC Care Management Unit, based at the Division of Senior Services.
Division programs to assist family caregivers include: The Respite Program and the Jersey Assistance for Community Caregivers (JACC). These programs are accessed through the Division’s ADRC Information and Assistance Unit.
